Star's Secrets
Randy Houston Mercer, one of Hollywood's top make up artists regularly uses Eyesential and The Lift as his "secret weapon" when working on his celebrity clientele. He also knows what works to maximise a flawless look for everyday wear or for that special occasion. To complement Eyesential and The Lift, Randy shares a few helpful tips for the face and eyes.

Eyes
For hooded eyes, use products that enlarge the eyes. Use an eye brightener under the eyes and apply a thickly smudged line of smoky shadow on your top lid. Curl the lashes. For extra impact in the evening, line the inner bottom ring of the eyes.

For deep-set eyes, keep sparkly products to a minimum, as these will make the eyes appear to recede further. Apply mascara and define the eyelids with flesh coloured shadow.

To shape your eyebrows, pluck from the under eye up. Never pluck the top of the arch. Remove a few hairs that are outside the natural shape, first from one brow and then alternate with the other to achieve a balanced look.

Face
Preparation is key to ensure that make up lasts longer and has a better finish. Cleanse, tone and moisturise before applying make up. Liquid foundations tend to move with the skin giving a healthier and younger look. Before buying, try the product on your face, not your neck or hand and check products in natural light rather than the harsh lighting of department stores. Take care to blend foundation into the neck.

Select colours that blend in to look invisible and therefore natural. If you can still see the make up once it's applied, or if it has a yellowy orange tone opt for alternative shades.

Choose a blusher with the right colour and texture to suit your skin type. Younger skin should opt for a peachy powder blush whilst a more mature complexion will benefit from a cream blusher for a natural finish.
